Concept Art

This section collects various pieces of concept art that were produced for the films by artists such as Ralph McQuarrie. Concept art presents kind of a lost world of its own, showing ideas that were considered but never used. All of the following pictures came from the Star Wars: Behind the Magic CD-Rom and the Episode I Insider's Guide CD-Rom. Coruscant
The Empire's capitol was originally going to appear in Return of the Jedi, and concept art of the planet, which at this point was called "Had Abbadon," was produced. Ralph McQuarrie's version of the planet was much darker and more gothic than what finally appeared on screen.
